COTU Battle of the Bands – Come Support REACHcycles Fundraising!

Buckville Hootenanny is playing to raise money for REACHcycles at the Summer Moon Music Festival fundraising event at Center of the Universe (COTU) Brewing! Bands will be battling it out for their charity of choice as they try to raise as much money as possible during the hour the band plays. The non-profit that raises the most money not only wins the Battle of the Bands, they also have their donations matched by Center of the Universe!

Proceeds will benefit local children with disabilities in purchasing and donating specially adapted three-wheeled cycles (called AmTrykes) to specific children on the REACHcycles wishlist. We would greatly appreciate your support in our fundraising efforts!

    ABOUT REACHcycles

REACHcycles is an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) organization that addresses a local need for children and veterans with disabilities who are unable to ride traditional bikes, and are unable to afford therapeutic cycles. Our mission is to provide mobility and independence for children and veterans with disabilities through specially adapted AmTryke therapeutic cycles.

Since July 2014, REACHcycles has provided over 200 AmTryke cycles donated to children in the Richmond community who have a variety of disabilities, diseases, and disorders. REACHcycles works closely with local physical therapists, Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Sportable, Sheltering Arms, and many other organizations to identify individuals in the Richmond community who would benefit from a customized AmTryke cycle. These cycles cost an average of $800 (ranging from $400 – $1200) per cycle. Costs vary with the age and size of the individual, and necessary modifications of the adapted tryke are based upon individual needs. Our numerous volunteers come from the backbone of this community with all backgrounds including veterans, active duty soldiers, fireman, policeman, youth groups, therapists, teachers, and many others, to assist in assembling bikes, providing activities, transporting bikes, and fitting/evaluations for children.

In the end I believe it was their the marketing plan, the networking, knowing how to respond to questions, the human element/ touch, understanding the psychology of the potential buyers and their negotiating power that sold the home. While we were busy re…
